"Has California Chardonnay finally turned a corner? It would appear so. For although QRW usually has a tough time finding anything to like within this category, we come to you now with 11 (zowie!) California Chardonnays to tout. Not surprisingly, most of these hail from cooler northern California zones, such as Carneros and Russian River Valley, where Chardonnay can ripen slowly and develop a natural balance (i.e., one that doesn't have to be tweaked artificially at the winery) between fruit and acidity. Again, we never thought we'd be saying this, but here are 11 sure-to-please California Chardonnays."
