Tanzer's International Wine Celler Reviews 2012 Spring Release
91 Points | 2010 Benovia Russian River
Valley Pinot Noir
"Bright ruby-red. Sexy, smoke-accented aromas of black
raspberry, cherry and potpourri, with notes of star anise and
sassafras adding complexity. Juicy, penetrating red and dark berry
flavors show very good energy and alluring sweetness, with zesty
acidity adding lift. Finishes seamless and long, with very good
clarity and lingering spiciness."
90(+?) Points | 2010 Benovia Sonoma
Coast Pinot Noir
"Deep ruby. Aromas of dark berries and
cherry compote are brightened by sexy floral and Indian spice
nuances. Fleshy and broad, with good depth to its black raspberry
and cola flavors. A peppery note comes up with air and adds bite to
a long, spicy and refreshingly bitter finish. I find this wine a
bit more strict than the RRV bottling today."
90 Points | 2010 Benovia Russian River
Valley Chardonnay
"Light yellow-gold. Pungent, expressive aromas of Meyer lemon,
pear, fig and vanilla, with a gingery accent adding vivacity.
Sappy, penetrating citrus and floral flavors are given a
refreshingly bitter edge by notes of pear skin and peach pit, with
a late note of white pepper adding bite. A smoky nuance comes up on
the finish, which shows very good clarity and length."
